Leopard

Get your cameras ready to capture the most elusive member of the Big 5 - the leopard. These stealthy cats mainly hunt at night, but if you see them in the day, they will most likely be alone, hidden in the undergrowth or taking a nap in the trees. Leopards are agile climbers that use their tree-climbing skills as leverage to enjoy prey. Fun fact: They are the only big cat that purrs!

Elephant

Not only are elephants the largest of the Big 5, but they're also the largest land mammal in the world! These gentle giants are easy to spot, commonly found in large breeding herds or playing at the edge of watering holes. Rhinoceros

Kenya is one of the best countries to encounter these endangered animals. Despite their enormous size, rhinos are herbivores that wallow in muddy pools or graze in the bush. Pay a visit to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It also happens to be the location of the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the entire world.

Buffalo

With their colossal, curved horns, African buffalo are easy to spot as they roam by the thousands across open grasslands, thick bush, and around watering holes. When these large animals are on the move, the air fills with clouds of dust, an impressive sight in the bush. Among the most feared animals, you'll find buffaloes fascinating to watch when you spot them on safari.
