Group Travel Coordinator

Friendly Planet Travel, Inc. (, an internet-based tour operator specializing in exotic international destinations and located in Jenkintown, PA, is searching for a full-time, experienced travel agent/group coordinator to work in our busy office.

We’re seeking a good team player with a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, a successful closer when competing for business, with excellent organizational skills in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple groups to multiple destinations simultaneously.

Responsibilities and required qualifications for the position include:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years in the travel industry, preferably handling vacation travel and/or groups.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solve problems creatively
  • Possess computer proficiency (including Word, Excel & Amadeus)
  • Manage and monitor project budgets to ensure the maximization of profitability
  • Monitor group air and land deadlines as required.
  • Handle daily group operations and final tour reconciliation
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, meeting/event planning or related field is helpful although not required

The position is full-time, 9:30AM-6PM, no exceptions. We are located in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, very close to train and bus transportation and an easy commute by car from most of greater Philadelphia.

Product Development

We are an established online travel company seeking to appoint a Destination Professional for our Product Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships and commercial agreements with clients and suppliers, have a strong purchasing background in travel, with proven experience in delivering quality programs at exceptional pricing through effective selection, sourcing, negotiation and commercial management of product.

Travel industry experience within Destination / Product based role is absolutely essential, as well as contracting and negotiation skills. You will need excellent commercial and analytical skills and the ability to build and maintain successful working relationships. The role will involve a strong working knowledge of Excel, a good understanding of the online travel landscape, sales and a familiarity with online distribution channels.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ability to work in a team environment to handle multiple projects in a timely manner and meet deadlines
  • Researching destinations and providing market comparisons
  • Maintaining relationships and commercial agreements with clients, suppliers, and vendors around the world
  • Ability to manage contracting, pricing and spreadsheet calculations
  • Ability to create written material such as itineraries
  • Willingness to quickly learn and master our software
