Weather

Botswana’s rainfall is less than countries further east with most precipitation falling between the months of December and March.

April through May in Botswana offers clear skies and lush landscapes. The temperature at night begins drop during this time of year, particularly in the Kalahari Desert.

Areas around the Okavango tend to have less extreme, more moderate temperatures than the drier areas of the Kalahari.

Night-time temperatures in drier areas drop close to freezing from June to October, but increase rapidly during the day. The intense heat dries the landscapes, concentrating game to watering holes.

Entry requirements

U.S. citizens must have a passport which is valid for at least 90 days after your return date, though we strongly recommend at least six months.

U.S. passport holders do not need a visa to enter Botswana for stays up to 90 days. See the U.S. Dept. of State website for more information.

Booked on one of our packages with Scheduled Dates? If you do not hold a U.S. passport, you are responsible for obtaining any necessary visas and meeting all entry requirements. If a visa is required, we recommend using a fee-based visa service, such as our preferred provider VisaHQ.
