Folkloric show
So far you've seen the best of South Africa's cities; you've spotted the Big 5 in Edeni and Kruger; and you've caught glimpses of indigenous birds in Magaoeboskloof. Now, you'll have a unique opportunity to experience firsthand South African village life at the Lesedi Cultural Village and African Lodge.
A typical experience at the Lesedi Cultural Village begins upon arrival when guests are greeted and taken to their homestead where they will be staying. The head of the home then becomes their personal escort for the rest of their stay. The 30 guest huts at the Lesedi Lodge are truly works of art. Each room features its own unique design and locally-inspired décor. All rooms include private bathrooms and tea/coffeemaker. Once settled in your comfortable guests huts, you will then get to know the many colorful and fascinating aspects of the cultures of the people of Lesedi.
Guest during a wedding cerimony
Begin at the Ndebele village where an additional welcome by all the people of Lesedi takes place. The cultural program starts with a multi-visual presentation on the history and origins of today's rainbow nation. This is followed by a guided tour of the four ethnic homesteads – Zulu, Basotho, Xhosa and Pedi. As the sun sets over the African bush, guests are escorted to the Boma for traditional singing and dancing (a very participative affair!) depicting stories that date back to the days of their ancestors. Enjoy a sumptuous Pan African Buffet in the Nyama Choma Restaurant.
Bonfire
After dinner, guests gather round the fire outside the bar for a cultural surprise. The fun begins with some "Mamba Juice," a unique Lesedi potion followed by storytelling, singing, dancing, and the opportunity to learn more about the myths and traditions of the people of South Africa. A full English breakfast is served in the restaurant each morning. If time permits, be sure to check out the vibrant, living Ndebele craft market and Curio shop with its decorative walls and courtyards.
