Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Updated May 15, 2020

Dear Friends,

I hope that you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe. It seems like just yesterday we were all counting down to our next big adventure. Out of an abundance of caution, we've suspended all programs through July 31. We are monitoring the situation constantly and are hopeful that travel can resume in the fall.

In the meantime, that hasn't stopped us from planning for the future. Our Product Development and Operations Teams are working hand-in-hand with our destination and airline partners to create enhanced protocols for safety and health that will be our guiding star moving forward. Stay tuned for more information as we develop these processes. We'll be sure to share updates.

At the end of the day, I believe this crisis will bring us together and make us stronger as a global community. Because we're all in this together.

Until then, we'll keep dreaming of the day we can get out see each other, and the world, again!

Sincerely,

Peggy M. Goldman
President

Suspended Packages

Updated May 15, 2020, 2020

All programs departing now through July 31st have been suspended. We will waive any Friendly Planet change fees for all suspended departures if you choose to rebook another 2020 or 2021 trip. That said, as you plan ahead please note that while the value of your ticket will remain available to rebook, you must do so within the parameters of your specific airline's policies. Typically, future travel must be on the originally booked carrier and travel must be completed within 12 months though many airline policies are rapidly changing. Our travel specialists will be contacting each of you to review these details and assist with rescheduling your trip for a future date.

Travel Insurance

  • Our travel protection plan from Travelex Insurance Services, like most travel insurance policies, does not provide coverage for trips that are cancelled due to COVID-19, including because of travel advisories, the destination being inaccessible, or fear of travel, unless you purchased our plan before Mar 18, 2020, and selected the Cancel for Any Reason option. Unfortunately, this option is no longer available for purchase.
  • Our plan does provide emergency medical & evacuation coverage if you become ill with the virus or are quarantined while traveling.
  • If you have purchased or are considering purchasing our plan, please see the Travelex Coronavirus (COVID-19) Coverage Update and the policy details.
  • If you are able to purchase a travel insurance policy from another provider that includes "cancel for any reason" coverage, this may cover cancellations related to the coronavirus.
