Located just off National Highway 7 at the entrance to Isalo National Park, Satrana Lodge has been designed to blend into the uniquely sculpted landscape of deep canyons and undulating savannah surrounding the area. Dotted with majestic satrana palms and engulfed in peaceful serenity, it is the perfect starting point to explore Madagascar's most memorable jewel, tangorombohitr'Isalo.
Designed to combine the romantic charm of the safari experience with modern standards of comfort, each of the 40 deluxe tented accommodations follows the classical Botswana Meru tent design. Set on a raised platform, these tents consists of a hardwood frame, roof, wooden floor with stylish carpeting, and soft canvas tent walls. Every suite has its own hardwood front deck, with lovely views onto the Horombe plain. At the back, a large masonry bathroom is seamlessly connected to the suite, and leads to an individual private garden with an additional outdoor shower. The furnishings recreate a comfortable version of the experience of the explorers of yesteryear, with the amenities one might expect in a very modern hotel. Each tent is fitted with hot water, a full length mirror, writing desk, and safe. Electricity is available from 6 pm until 11 pm.
The large bay windows of the Restaurant and bar make the most of the impressive secenery by offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The menu consists of Malagasy and French cuisine served by an experienced and friendly staff.
After a long day of exploring in the hot sun, take a dip in the swimming pool to cool off. There is also a small library where you can grab a book, have a drink and relax in the tranquility of the natural surroundings.
