THE DIVINE FEMININE IN SPAIN: GRANADA, CORDOBA, MONTSERRAT AND BARCELONA

Join us for a trip of a lifetime. Travel and learn ways to invite the Divine into life with each step. Explore sacred sites where contemplation and meditation are accessed as tools of focus before and after various activities.  The journey is designed to allow each of us to be aware of our connection and intimate relationship with the universe.

Any faith or tradition is welcome and will be integrated into the exercises.  Activities and focus may be facilitated with prayer, awareness of a divine symbol, or even your connection to nature. Before the trip begins, in the months to come, I will guide you in prayers, visualizations, and meditations to facilitate blessings and opportunities in the trip to come. In my experience, seeking a journey where I bring joy, love, protection, and of course fun, into the experience for myself and all concerned, cultivates a voyage of grace.

I would love to catalyze your awareness of Divine in a pilgrimage of Self, while learning the tools of connection and co-creation.  Take the challenge to step over your inner barriers to yourself and Universe. Join myself and seventeen others on a once in a lifetime experience. I look forward to meeting you.

Cathedral interior, GranadaFull Day Itinerary: After breakfast, discover the historical, monumental and cultural richness of Granada. Admire the city highlights like the famous Gothic Cathedral containing the Royal Chapel with the tomb of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Explore the city's historic neighborhoods like the Albaycin, the old Arab quarter, constructed on a medieval town plan with cobbled streets and small squares, where you will reach San Nicolas viewpoint offering magnificent views of the Alhambra, the city of Granada and Sierra Nevada. Next to Albaycin is located the hill of Sacromonte, another typical quarter famous for its cave dwellings, gypsy community, and flamenco tradition.

The Cathedral in Granada is one of the summits of the Spanish Renaissance. The Royal Chapel was built with a single nave, an eight-angled presbytery preceded by stands, a small crossing and a high choir at its bottom. The Royal Pantheon is where the remains of King Ferdinand, the Queen Isabella, Philip the First and Joanna the First, and Miguel, the Prince of Asturias lay.

After lunch on your own, enjoy a relaxed, informal exploration of the Albaicín district, one of the oldest centers of Muslim culture in Granada, and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Due to the strong Muslim influence in this area, it was the place where the first Ziri wall was constructed in the 11th century.

Flamenco performanceNext, you will learn how the medieval Islamic city has kept its identity into the modern age, explaining its social history and character in an anecdotal style, while answering your questions about current-day Spain. As you walk through its twisting alleyways, you will come across stunning views of the city, the majestic Alhambra palaces and, the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada during the winter months. You will stroll around the scented gardens of Cármenes, a typical construction of the city of Granada where the home and greenery of the garden and the orchard blend in a unique way that makes you enjoy the slow rhythms of daily life, in this most traditional and yet singular neighborhood.

This evening, enjoy a Flamenco Show. Prepare yourself for a bewitching night of song, guitar and flamenco dancing, a genuinely Spanish popular art, in the historic caves of the Sacromonte district of Granada. This is the birthplace of the art of flamenco, where you will live and feel the passion of the world of flamenco (Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Enjoy the show while having a drink.

Located on a rocky hill, on the banks of the Darro River, protected by mountains and amongst the eldest quarter in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with its distinctive reddish stone in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty enclosed within.

The Alhambra ranks among the world’s finest examples of Islamic art with carved cedar-wood, stuccowork, and gorgeous mosaics. Originally designed as a military fortress, the Alhambra became the site the Royal Court of Ferdinand and Isabella (where Christopher Columbus received royal endorsement for his expedition). The complex is formed by the stunning Moorish palaces and the Palace of King Charles V, a Renaissance building, inside the Nasrid fortification of the Alhambra, as well as the Alcazaba fortress and an opposite independent palace: The Generalife, which is surrounded by orchards, greenery, fountains that keep the palace cool and beautiful gardens that welcome the visitor.
