Advice from Friendly Planet

All information provided below pertains to U.S. passport holders only. Non-U.S. Citizens should check with the appropriate foreign consular representative.

Visa: US passport holders must obtain a tourist e-Visa before beginning their journey to Benin. If taking our Spirit of West Africa package, a single-entry e-Visa must be purchased. The e-Visa application must be submitted at least 7 days before arrival into Benin but we suggest that it's done at least two weeks in advance to be safe.

  • To apply directly, please visit the Official Government Website
  • If you would like to use a professional service to assist with applying for your e-Visa to Benin, we have partnered with GenVisa. Please check back here in the coming weeks to find their Benin e-Visa kit.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Entry Requirements: Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination is required for all travelers over nine months of age entering into Benin.
