Friendly Planet's prices are so fantastic in part because our packages are based on double-occupancy rooms and cabins. If you're travelling solo, we always offer single occupancy rooms for a little more, but somtimes that price increase can push an affordable trip out of your budget. To avoid these fees, we encourage you to find other solo travelers on your tour or cruise and share a room. The savings can be substantial!
Our Friendly Planet Community site is a great place to connect with other solo travelers. Start a conversation with other passengers on the same tour and find a like-minded traveling companion to share a room, then get to know them before your departure date.
To get started:
When posting or replying to a post from another traveler, include a little bit about yourself. Once you find someone you'd like to room with, exchange emails and have a few phone conversations to be sure you've found someone that you'll enjoy spending time with. Proceed only when you are confident in the arrangement.
Keep in mind that rooming with a stranger can be a challenge, even when both travelers try hard to get along. In order to avoid problems that could spoil your vacation, take time to get to know your prospective roommate BEFORE you commit to sharing a room. Once your trip begins, separating into single rooms will incur additional expense for both of you, and in some cases may not even be possible. Friendly Planet will not be held responsible for any costs or negative results arising from roommate-related complications.
