of Kenya’s legendary Mount Kenya, Serena
Mountain Lodge offers game viewing opportun-ities while combining
a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors
of an ancient rainforest.
Floating 2,195 m high on the flanks of Kenya’s highest
mountain and secreted deep within her largest forest reserve,
the lodge offers the clarity of mountain air, the tranquility
of the forest, a colorful cavalcade of wildlife, and the chance
of scaling the icy peaks of Africa’s second-highest mountain.
The
lodge has 42 attractive bed-rooms furnished with indigenous
wood and African art, each with private bath-room. Their spacious
balcon-ies overlook the water-hole where a continual procession
of animals come to drink.
The professional, attentive, and friendly staff serves guests
sumptuous international menus with buffets and barbecues alongside
authentic African dishes. The full-service bar serves fresh
fruit juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee, cock-tails, wines,
spirits and liqueurs.
Guests
can awake to the trumpeting of elephant, fall asleep to the
symphony of the African night or sit in stillness and observe
the fascinating interplay of the animals as they arrive to drink,
bathe, spar and forage around the water hole. Guests can venture
down to the secret viewing hide by the water’s edge and
experience the awesome thrill of being only meters away from
some of the most massive beasts on earth. Arrangements can be
made for forest walks, game sightings, and even hikes for the
daring and adventurous to the top of Mount Kenya.
