The Admiral Hotel is one of the most charming and characteristic hotels in Bergen—an old, dignified traditional marine warehouse from the turn of the century, rebuilt in 1987. The Clarion Admiral Hotel is situated on the southern seashore of Vågen, surrounded by water on three sides, with magnificent views of some of Bergen´s most popular tourist attractions.
Ships enliven the view from the Hotel Admiral and invigorate the life around it. The houses across the water conjure up images of the twelfth century, when the city was a major center for Han-seatic League traders. Bear-ing ideas as well as goods, the ships transported Bergen out of its cultural isolation.
The hotel has 210 rooms comprising 390 beds. In exciting contrast to rough timber beams, bricks and stucco plaster walls, all rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with all the comforts one would expect of a first class hotel with some rooms featuring a view of the wharf.
From here you can catch a vessel bound for the Russian border and beyond. But most settle for a day's glide on the Sogne Fjord, past the glaciers, farms, and church-scattered hillsides of the Fjordane region. You can be back at the hotel in time for the setting of the summer sun.
