See two of the most beautiful capital cities in Europe each with outstanding examples of;culture, history, and architectural wonder! Stay three or four nights in each city and view the scenery in-between from your first class rail car.
Day 1: Depart USA
- Your exciting trip to Budapest begins today as you depart for Hungary on an overnight flight.
Day 2: Arrive Budapest, Hungary
Full Day Itinerary:Upon arrival in Budapest, transfer independently to your centrally located hotel or choose our optional airport transfer.
The balance of the day is at leisure so you can relax, unwind, and enjoy the facilities of the hotel. Or, venture out for your first exploration of the city.
Days 3-4: Budapest
- Enjoy two full days to explore at leisure or choose from our selection of optional sightseeing excursions.
Day 5: Budapest & Vienna
- Travel via rail from Budapest to Vienna.
Full Day Itinerary:This morning, independently make your way to the Budapest Keleti rail station, and travel by train from Budapest to Vienna. Upon arrival, make your own way to your hotel.
Once you’ve settled in, start your exploration of the city by visiting some of the numerous grandiose historical buildings and monuments. Of course, you also have to sample the famous Viennese coffee and Sacher torte (cake).
Days 6-7: Budapest
Full Day Itinerary:Enjoy two full days to explore at leisure or choose from a selection of optional sightseeing excursions. While in Vienna don't miss a chance to see the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Rococo Belvedere Palace or Schönbrunn Palace featuring 1,440 rooms surrounded by vast and verdant gardens.
Day 8: Return to the USA
- This morning, transfer to the airport independently or select our optional transfer.
- Later, return to the USA.
Morning - Ideal City Tour of Budapest
This 4-hour tour provides all of the sights of the base City Tour in a small friendly group. This tour features several pleasant walks to see things not typically covered in the base tour. View the Chain Bridge, Matthias Church, Fishermans Bastion, Gellert Hill (Citadel), the Heroes' Square, the Opera House, St. Stephen's Basilica and the largest Synagogue in Europe.
Tour departs at 10am daily. Pickup at your hotel 1/2 hour prior to tour start time. Tour ends in the city centre with return to your hotel independently.
Our half day tour takes you to Szentendre, a beautiful artists village which was built on medieval ruins. Visit the Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum, the Confectionary Museum or shop for the perfect sourvenir of your trip to Budapest.
Vienna city tour including Schonbrunn Palace
Your tour begins at Sudtiroler Platz and take you past the impressive Vienna State Opera, home of the famous annual "Opera Ball". Not far from the Opera is the Hofburg Palace; the former winter residence of the imperial family. Other sights on your tour are the Museum of Art History, the Museum of Natural History, Parliament, the acclaimed Burg Theater and City Hall.
Vienna Woods and Mayerling
Travel from Vienna to the southern portion the the Vienna Woods passing the spa town of Baden on they way to Mayerling.
You will see the chapel built on the site of Mayerling, the former imperial hunting lodge. Learn of the tragedy of crown Prince Rudolf and his mistress Baroness Vetsera.
Then, visit the Abbey Heilegenkreuz; an active monastery which was founded in 1133. Continue on to Holdrichsmuhle where Schubert once composed and also to Seegrotte Hinterbruhl which is home to Europe's largest underground lake.
