Modern Nazareth is a busy city with a population of approximately 70,000 people. For nearly 2,000 years hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have found their way to the setting which shaped the Man who changed the course of history. Nazareth Village is located on the last remaining tract of virgin farmland, just 500 meters away from where he grew up. Here we’ll have an opportunity to take a tour of the village and experience life as it must have been during the time of Jesus. Continue to Sepphoris located 6.5kms north-west of Nazareth & was the old capital of Galilee during the time of Jesus. According to tradition, the original home of Marys’ parents, Joachim and Anne (or Anna) was at Sepphoris. During the 12th century, the Crusaders built a huge Church of St. Anna, possibly on the site of their home.
This afternoon we’ll see the first century “Jesus Boat”, found by members of Kibbutz Nof Ginossar after a drought in 1985 caused the water level in the Sea of Galilee to fall lower than usual, exposing this ancient boat. Buried in a mudbank along the shore of the Sea of Galilee near the ancient town of Migdal for almost two millennia, it was the first (and so far, the only) ancient boat to be recovered from the Sea of Galilee. We continue to Tiberias and our hotel on the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight. Accommodations: Nof Ginnosar. Breakfast & dinner provided.

After ascending the Golan Heights, visit the former Syrian fortifications, then drive along the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee to Bethsaida, home of apostles Philip, Simon and Andrew, where Jesus fed the five thousand and healed the blind man, and Kursi, where Jesus cast out the demons from the man of Gedara. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Tiberias. Breakfast & Shabbat dinner provided.
Day 5: Yardenit & Mt. Arbel. This morning we will stop at Yardenit, a special site on the Jordan River, for a Baptism Service. This afternoon we’ll drive to Mt. Arbel, among the most prominent physical landmarks around the Sea of Galilee, located near the sea’s western shore in the vicinity of ancient Magdala, home of Mary Magdalene. The mountain’s sheer face can be seen from most points around the lake. Below Mount Arbel lies the Valley of the Doves, a natural access route into the lake area and a route possibly used by Jesus as he traveled back and forth to Cana and Nazareth. Late this afternoon we’ll return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. Breakfast & dinner provided.
