January 29 – February 7, 2009
Hosted by Pastor Dave & Jerri McGarrah
Includes airfare, fuel surcharges, great hotels, transfers, most meals, guided touring and more!
Join Pastor Dave & Jerri McGarrah on a journey to the Land of the Bible, to see, touch, feel and really experience the land of Jesus, as it was in His time, and as it is today! Our itinerary is exciting and comprehensive, featuring the most important Biblical sites plus some special places not usually visited by Christian tour groups. If you have dreamed of understanding and experiencing more about the origins of our faith and want to visit the land where Jesus walked and ministered, we invite you to join us on this journey of Biblical discovery and spiritual renewal in Israel, Land of the Bible.
Day 1: Thursday, January 29: USA/Israel. Departure on the first leg of your overnight flight to Israel via scheduled jet service.
Dan Panorama Tel Aviv
Day 3: Saturday, January 31: Caesarea, Mount Carmel, Megiddo & Tiberias. After breakfast, drive north along the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, the Roman capital of Judea, which King Herod built into the grandest city in Palestine, second only to Jerusalem. View the beautifully restored theater and extensive and ongoing excavations of the ruins of the ancient town, its harbor and aqueduct.
Day 4: Sunday, Febuary 1: Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes & Banias. Set sail on the Sea of Galilee aboard a wooden fishing boat built to represent vessels used during Bible times. Arrive at Capernaum, once a simple fishing village, where Jesus was often a guest of his disciple Peter, and where it is said He performed many miracles. Visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue and house of Peter.
Day 5: Monday, Febuary 2: Jordan Valley, Beit She'an, Jerusalem. Drive south via the Jordan Valley to Beit She'an, an extraordinary excavation of an ancient Greco-Roman city. Located some 30 km. south of the Sea of Galilee, Beit She'an was one of the major cities in the land of Israel, due primarily to its location at the intersection of the road to Jerusalem and the road to Transjordan. Continue to Jerusalem, the highlight of our journey.
Our touring in Jerusalem begins at the Mount of Olives, one of the most important feature in Jerusalem's landscape. From before the time of Jesus until today, it has served as one of the main burial grounds for the city, and it is on its eastern slope, near Bethany, where Scripture indicates Jesus ascended to heaven. We’ll walk to Dominit Flevit Church and Garden of Gethsemane, and end our day at the Garden Tomb. Dan Panorama Hotel Breakfast & dinner provided.
Day 6: Tuesday, February 3: Jerusalem. Start the day with a visit to the City of David, and then on to the Southern Wall steps, the Western Wall, and the Jewish Quarter, with a visit to the Shorashim Biblical shop where you will see a wide range of gifts and art pieces inspired by the timeless verses of the Bible.
Day 7: Wednesday, February 4: Dead Sea, Masada & Ein Gedi. Ascend by cable car this morning to experience the historic fortress of Masada where, after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 C.E., Jewish resistance continued against Rome. When the Romans completed an assault ramp to the top of Masada and stormed the fortress, they found only dead bodies. Rather than fall into the hands of the Romans and live as slaves, the Zealots died by their own means. After a tour of the extensive excavations at Masada, continue to Ein Gedi, David's waterfall and a wonderful nature center. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Breakfast & dinner provided.
Day 8: Thursday, February 5: Jerusalem. This is a day to get intimate with Jerusalem. You will have an opportunity to touch, taste and smell the Old City and its many treasures as you take your final walking tour with Pastor Dave and Jerri McGarrah. Experience the world's most magical city on your last day in the Holy Land. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel. Breakfast & dinner provided.
