The Initiative for Jewish Women serves progressive Jewish women in the Houston area seeking to experience Judaism by addressing contemporary issues that reflect 21st century tastes and sensibilities. IJW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving voice to Jewish women through multi-generational dialogue.

Thursday, Apr 18 - Day 2: Rome. Arrival on your scheduled flight at Rome Fiumicino airport and transfer with your tour conductor to your hotel. Check in and briefing with your tour conductor. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner in one of the best Kosher restaurants in Rome located just near the Synagogue in the Jewish Ghetto. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast & dinner provided.
Friday, Apr 19 - Day 3: Rome. Breakfast at your hotel. This morning meet our guide for your morning tour of ancient Rome including a visit to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, Circo Massimo and St. Peter's Basilica. Lunch under own arrangements. Afternoon visit to Temple Maggiore and the Jewish Museum housing artifacts dating from the 15th Century and Synagogue. Evening Shabbat service. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast provided.
Saturday, Apr 20 - Day 4: Rome. Breakfast at your hotel. Today's guided tour will include: Jewish Ghetto including the Piazza delle Cinque Scole, named after the 5 historic synagogues. Lunch under own arrangements.
This afternoon, you may want to take an OPTIONAL tour to the Vatican Museums with our guide. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast provided.
Sunday, Apr 21 - Day 5: Rome & Florence. After breakfast, we depart Rome for Florence with a visit to the beautiful town of Siena where there has been a Jewish community since the 13th Century. Visit the Synagogue built in 1756, as well as Piazza del Campo after Siena transfer to San Gimignano, a mediaeval city built on a Tuscan hilltop. Continue to Florence. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast provided.
Monday, Apr 22 - Day 6: Florence. Breakfast at hotel. This morning you will meet your English speaking local guide for your full day guided tour of the city including the medieval church of Santa Croce, Giotto’s frescoes, the Duomo and the Accademia Gallery where Michelangelo’s David can be admired. Lunch under own arrangements. This afternoon continue to visit the Jewish Florentine Ghetto with a professional Jewish guide. This community dates back to the 14th century and the Moorish/Byzantine style Synagogue built in the 1870’s and it’s Museum. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast provided.
Tuesday, Apr 23 - Day 7: Florence & Venice. Breakfast at hotel. Late morning departure to Venice. We will visit the incredible leaning tower of Pisa including the Cathedral. Arrival in Venice this afternoon. Continue to your hotel prior to departing on your afternoon panoramic tour of Venice with your tour conductor. Don't forget to try one of the amazing Gondola's down the Grand Canal! Overnight at your hotel in Venice. Breakfast provided.
Wednesday, Apr 24 - Day 8: Venice. After a breakfast this morning, you will meet your private English speaking guide and depart for your full day tour of the city in the morning a walking tour of Venice including the Basilica of San Marco, San Marco's square, and the Bridge of Sighs. Lunch under own arrangements. In the afternoon our tour will continue with a Jewish guide visiting the Ghetto, some of the five 16th Century Synagogues which represent the different ethnic Jewish groups and communities that settled in Venice the tour will end with a visit to their museum and the Holocaust Memorial.
This evening enjoy a farewell dinner in Venice in a local kosher restaurant. Overnight at hotel. Breakfast & dinner provided.
Thursday, Apr 25 - Day 9: Venice/USA. Enjoy breakfast. Transfer to the airport to board your return flight to the U.S. via Frankfurt. Arrive to Houston early afternoon. Breakfast provided.
