Detailed Itinerary

Map of Israel Monday, March 7: USA/Israel. Departure on the first leg of our overnight trip to Israel. Aloft, we will have dinner, a little sleep time, breakfast, and the opportunity to praise the Lord for His great creation from the vantage point of 35,000 feet!

Tuesday, March 8: Tel Aviv. We arrive at Ben Gurion Airport where we are met by our guide for assistance through customs and transferred to our hotel in Tel Aviv.

Roman Theater at Caesarea Wednesday, March 9: Caesarea, Mount Carmel & Tiberias. After a visit to Independence Hall, where the new State of Israel was declared, we drive north along the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, Roman capital of Judea. Here we view the beautifully restored theater, and the ruins of the ancient town, its harbor and aqueduct. We travel inland to Megiddo (Biblical Armageddon), then continue to Muhraka on Mt Carmel, where Elijah defeated the priests of Ba'al. We continue to Tiberias and our hotel on the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight.

Thursday, March 10: Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes & Banias. We set sail on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum and visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue. Continue to Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and the Mt. of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount, and through the Hula Valley to Banias, ancient Caesarea Philippi at the foot of Mt Hermon. After ascending the Golan Heights, visit the former Syrian fortifications, then drive along the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee to Bethsaida, home of apostles Philip, Simon and Andrew, where Jesus fed the five thousand and healed the blind man, and Kursi, where Jesus cast out the demons from the man of Gedara. Time for a stop at Yardenit, a special site on the Jordan River, for a Baptism Service. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Tiberias.

Friday, March 11: Jordan Valley, Beit She'an & Jerusalem. After breakfast we'll visit an excavated boat dating from the time of Jesus that was found at Kibbutz Ginosar, then drive to Cana, site of Jesus' first miracle, and Nazareth, His boyhood home. We drive south via the Jordan Valley to Beit She'an, an extraordinary excavation of an ancient Roman city. Continue our drive up to Jerusalem, highlight of our tour, arriving in time for our Shabbat dinner and evening program with a special, guest speaker.

Saturday, March 12: Old City of Jerusalem. A full day of sightseeing in Jerusalem, exploring our Christian heritage and its Jewish roots: Model of the city during the Second Temple period, the Mt. of Olives, Mt. Scopus, Mt. Zion, the site of the Upper Room, the Kidron Valley and the Garden of Gethsemane. Continue to the Old City within the walls, including the Via Dolorosa, the restored Jewish Quarter, the Western (Wailing) Wall, the Rabbinic Tunnels, the Temple Site on Mt. Moriah and the Garden Tomb.

Sunday, March 13: New City of Jerusalem. Today, we visit the new city outside the walls, the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed, and the Memorial to the Holocaust at Yad Vashem. This afternoon is at leisure for independent activities. This evening at our hotel we'll enjoy dinner and a guest speaker.

Qumran, site of Dead Sea Scrolls Monday, March 14: Qumran, Masada & Dead Sea. Today we visit Qumran to see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Ascend to the fortress of Masada, where Jewish defenders made their last stand against Rome (AD 73) then continue along the shore of the Dead Sea to Ein Gedi, David's waterfall and a wonderful nature center. After a dip in the mineral-filled waters of the Dead Sea, we continue to our Dead Sea resort hotel for dinner and overnight. Time this evening to enjoy some of the facilities of the hotel.

Tuesday, March 15: Dead Sea & Eilat. This morning, after leisurely breakfast and time to utilize the hotel facilities, board our touring bus and drive south to Eilat on the Red Sea. Arrive later this afternoon, in time for a swim in the warm Red Sea waters. Continue our drive south to Timna Park, where we'll stop for a visit at the life-size replica of the biblical Tabernacle. After our visit we'll continue to Eilat for dinner and overnight.

Lost City Of Petra, Jordan Wednesday, March 16: Eilat, Petra & Eilat. Early this morning we'll cross into Jordan at the Arava border and drive to the Nabatean capital of Petra, a secret and mystical city carved more than 2,000 years ago in pink sandstone. Petra was a caravan-city at the crossroads of ancient trade between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea. The magnificent sandstone edifices, featured in "Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade", were half-built and half-carved into the rock, surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. After a tour of the ancient city, including a portion on horseback, we board our bus and return to Israel, arriving in Eilat for dinner and overnight.

Thursday, March 17: Eilat & Tel Aviv. Morning at leisure to explore Eilat, swim in the Red Sea, visit the Underwater Observatory and see the extensive and magnificent corals and sea life of the Red Sea. Or simply relax and enjoy the pool at your hotel. This afternoon, drive north to Tel Aviv, arriving in time for dinner.

Friday, March 18: Israel/USA. Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport and board your return flight to the USA, arriving later this afternoon.
