You'll visit the Seven Churches of Western Turkey, the Island of Patmos where tradition says John received the Revelation, and biblical Corinth and Athens. Monday, October 3: USA/Turkey. Depart U.S.A. for Istanbul, Turkey.
Agia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey
Tuesday, October 4: Istanbul. Arrive Istanbul and transfer to the Hotel Richmond. Dinner and overnight.
Wednesday, October 5: Istanbul. Visit the Byzantine Church of Aghia Sofia (St. Sofia), the Hippodrome and the Byzantine Cisterns. Optional mid-afternoon visit to the Bazaar. Overnight in Istanbul.
Pergamum, Turkey
Thursday, October 6: Izmir, Pergamum & Thyatira. Morning flight to Izmir. Visit Pergamum to see the ancient Acropolis, the altar of Zeus, the theater, and the Asclepeion (Healing Center). Stop at Thyatira en route to Izmir. Overnight at the Izmir Hilton.
Pamukkale, Turkey
Friday, October 7: Pamukkale, Heiropolis, Sardis, Philadelphia Laodice & Colassae Travel to Pamukkale (Heiropolis) with stops at Sardis (temple of Artemis, theater, synagogue), Philadelphia, Laodicea and Colossae. Overnight at Pammukale at the Hotel Richmond.
Ephesus, Turkey
Saturday, October 8: Hieropolis, Miletus & Kusadasi. Visit the ruins of Hieropolis and Miletus (Paul visited here at the end of his 3rd journey on his way to Jerusalem.) Travel to Kusadasi and overnight at the Hotel Kismet.
Sunday, October 9: Ephesus. Extended visit to Ephesus, the Basilica of St. John and the site of the ancient Temple of Artemis. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Patmos, Greece
Monday, October 10: Patmos, Samos & Thessaloniki. Visit the Island of Patmos where, according to tradition, St. John wrote the book of Revelation. Our private coach will take us to visit the Monastery of St. John, with its ancient frescos and manuscripts. The Grotto tradition holds it is the place St. John received the Revelation. Hydrofoil sea passage to Samos and then flight to Thessaloniki. Overnight in Thessaloniki at the Mediterranean Hotel
Kavala, Greece
Tuesday, October 11: Philippi & Kavala. Visit ancient Philippi founded by Philip II father of Alexander the Great. Visit the agora and the two huge Basilicas and the traditional site of the imprisonment of St. Paul. Visit the site where Lydia and her household were baptized. See the ancient Egnatia Way connecting East and West. Lunch at the picturesque town of Kavala (ancient Neapolis.) Overnight in Thessaloniki.
Wednesday, October 12: Thessaloniki & Athens. Visit the ancient Forum of Thessaloniki, the Arch of Caesar Gallerius. The Basilica of St. Demetrius (martyr and patron saint of Thessaloniki. See the Byzantine citadel and walls of the city. Visit the Church of St. David known for its 6th century mosaic. Excursion to Vergina. Afternoon flight to Athens. Overnight in Athens at the Hotel Divani.
Corinth Canal, Greece
Thursday, October 13: Corinth & Mycenae. Drive to Corinth. Stop at the impressive Canal of Corinth. Visit the archaeological site of Corinth, the Roman Forum, the Temple of Apollo, the Museum and the Bema where St. Paul defended himself before the Roman proconsul Gallio. Drive to Mycenae to see the Acropolis, the Lions' Gate, the Tombs excavated by Heinrich Schliemann, the Palace and the alleged Tomb of Agamemnon. Overnight in Athens.
Parthenon, Athens, Greece
Friday, October 14: Athens. Morning visit to the incomparable Acropolis. See the Propylaea, monumental Gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion, the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. Afternoon visit the National Archaeological Museum. Overnight in Athens.
Saturday, October 15: Athens. Day at leisure or we are invited to be the guests of Eleni and Themis Zachariou for lunch in Aegina where we can visit the Temple of Aphaea. Overnight in Athens.
Sunday, October 16: Greece/USA. Transfer to airport for return flight to U.S.

About Jim Fleming, your guide and teacher
Jim Fleming
Your guide and teacher will be Dr. Jim Fleming, Director of Biblical Resources Study Center in Jerusalem. Dr. Fleming has lived and worked in Israel since 1974. Dr. Fleming has studied in the United States and Israel, earning his Ed.D. from Southwestern Theological Seminary. He has taught at the School for Overseas Students, Hebrew University and worked as a cartography consultant with the Curriculum Department of the Israeli Ministry of Education. Dr. Fleming is also on the Advisory Board of Biblical Archaeology Review.
Dr. James Fleming, "Jim" as he is known to the many who have enjoyed his teaching around the world both on tour or in the classroom, serves as Director of Biblical Resources Study Center in Jerusalem, Israel, an ecumenical organization serving Christians around the world. He is also founder of the World of the Bible Archaeological Museum and Pilgrim Center at Ein Karem, Jerusalem. He has lived and worked in Israel since 1974, and he has developed courses of study in historical geography and biblical history.
Jim divides his time lecturing around the world, leading study tours to the Holy Land and the Mediterranean World, and teaching guide courses and directing the World of the Bible Garden in Ein Karem, Jerusalem. Through lectures and study tours, he weaves Archaeology, History, Geography, and Theology together to help us understand Biblical times and the events, hopes and fears of the people in various Biblical periods.
