Touring Program

Swiss Alpine Adventure 9-Day Tour Itinerary Day 1: Depart USA. Your adventure to the magnificent alpine treasure that is Switzerland begins this evening as you depart from New York for Zurich.

Day 2: Zurich. Arrive in Zurich, Switzerland's most important commercial center and transfer independently to your centrally located hotel. (Inexpensive shared bus service is available at the airport.) Time to stroll the Bahnhofstrasse, see the museums or relax by the lake. Hotel Sofitel Zurich

Day 3: Zurich, Interlaken. After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing drive along the River Limmat then continue to Lucerne. Visit the Lion Monument and enjoy a walk over the wooden "Kappeler" bridge, a picturesque and lovely landmark in this beautiful Swiss town. After city sightseeing with your guide, enjoy free time to stroll through the charming Old Town.

Later, drive to the mountain resort of Engelberg, where a spectacular cable car ride in the revolving "Rotair" will take you to the summit of Mt. Titlis (3,020m/10,000ft). Experience the high altitude alpine landscape with its glaciers and awesome views over hundreds of peaks and valleys.In the afternoon drive over Brünig Pass to Brienz, where you stop to visit a woodcarving shop. Continue to the resort town of Interlaken at the foot of the famous Jungfrau mountain. For the evening we suggest an optional dinner with folklore entertainment. Hotel Chalet Oberland (B)

Day 4: Interlaken, Lausanne & Geneva. Proceed along the shores of Lake Thun to Berne for a visit to the Swiss Federal Capital, including the Clock Tower and the Cathedral of St. Vincent. Continue through the picturesque countryside of Fribourg to Gruyères, a picturesque town and castle set on a hilltop in the midst of rich, pre-alpine dairy land. Hotel Alpha Palmiers

Day 5: Lausanne, Geneva & Zermatt. This morning drive along the breathtaking shores of Lake Geneva, famous for its vineyards. Enjoy a tour of Geneva, including the beautiful parks along the lake, the Old Town with its cathedral and the buildings of the United Nations. Return along Lake Geneva and the "Swiss Riviera", past the festival city of Montreux and Chillon Castle to the valley of the Rhone river, the Valais, with its orchards, vineyards and castles. At Täsch board a cogwheel train to take you to the mountain resort of Zermatt, at the foot of the famous Matterhorn. Hotel Christiania (B,D)

Day 6: Zermatt, Lugano. Morning at leisure to enjoy the spectacular setting of this village, do some shopping or take an optional mountain train excursion to the Gronergrat for an exceptional view on the world famous Matterhorn. In the afternoon return by cogwheel train to Täsch and continue by coach over the breathtaking Nufenen Pass to the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, the Ticino. Arrive at the garden city of Lugano, with its rich Mediterranean charm and palm trees, picturesquely set on Lake Lugano. Hotel De La Paix (B,D)

Day 7: Lugano, St. Moritz. Depart from Lugano, cross the border to Italy (an Italian visa is necessary for some nationalities) and drive along the romantic shores of Lake Como with its beautiful and luxurious parks and villas. Re-enter Switzerland and climb the Maloja Pass to the crystal-clear lakes Sils and Silvaplana, arriving at the world-renowned resort of St. Moritz (1,822m/5,978ft). Hotel Albana (B,D)

Day 8: St. Moritz, Zurich. Start the day with an exciting drive down the Egandin valley and over the Flüela Pass to the mountain and health resort of Davos. Continue to the area of Chur and follow the Rhine River through "Heidiland" to Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Lichtenstein. Time for lunch and sightseeing. Return through the picturesque valley of Toggenburg, with its farmhouses and meadows to Zurich. Hotel Sofitel Zurich (B)

Day 9: Zurich/USA. Transfer independently to the airport to board your return flight to the USA, arriving later today.
