It's tee time with Friendly Planet Travel! Join us aboard the MSC Sinfonia for a one-of-a-kind golf-themed Mediterranean cruise. We'll visit fascinating ports-of-call in Italy, Spain, Monaco, and Tunisia, all while enjoying the lavish Italian lifestyle aboard the cruise ship.

You'll have a special, optional opportunity to hone your golf skills—both on the ship and on the green—under the direction of internationally renowned golf guru Chuck Cook. Cited by three major golf magazines as one of the ten best golf instructors in the world, Chuck has coached many golfers to victory in the US Open and other important golf tournaments. Practice your swing aboard the ship in designated areas, such as the Golf Cage and Golf Simulator. Choose from three different optional instruction programs, tailored to your skill level. The programs include group lessons, personal instruction, a seminar led by Chuck, and opportunities to play onshore in Spain and Italy. Put your skills to the test on the last day of the cruise, when your program culminates in an optional 9-hole tournament at the Naples Golf Club.

Detailed Itinerary

MSC Sinfonia Golf Cruise itinerary map Day 1: Depart USA. Your exciting Mediterranean journey begins this evening as you check-in for your overnight jet flight to Italy.

Day 2: Florence, Italy. Arrive in Florence, capital of the beautiful Tuscany region. After customs formalities, you'll be escorted to nearby Livorno to board your ship for your weeklong Mediterranean cruise aboard the MSC Sinfonia. Dinner provided.

Monaco castle, flanked by harbors Day 3: Montecarlo, Monaco. The resort town of Monte Carlo is the Riviera's most celebrated playground of the rich and famous. The old town, called Rocca, houses the Prince's Palace, Oceanographic Museum, Cathedral, picturesque alleyways, high-end boutiques, and world-famous casinos and hotels. Explore on your own or choose from several guided, optional excursions including a panoramic tour of Monte Carlo and day tours of Cannes and Nice, France Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Palau de Les Arts museum, Valencia Day 4: Valencia, Spain. Disembark early this afternoon in Valencia, Spain's third largest city and home to one of the most quintessential Spanish dishes—paella. In addition to its welcoming atmosphere, delectable seafood, and sun-kissed beaches, Valencia features a harmonious blend of diverse architectural styles.

Paella, Valencia As you walk around the city you'll notice bold, modern architecture alongside Gothic masterpieces, such as the La Lonja silk exchange, and stunning art nouveau buildings along Carrer de la Paz.

Passengers participating in the optional golf packages will have the opportunity to hone their skills at Valencia's El Saler Golf Club. Other optional excursions include city, beach, and museum tours Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Ibiza beach & beachgoers Day 5: Ibiza, Spain. Often referred to as the "White Island" because of its typical whitewashed architecture, the Balearic Island of Ibiza is a beach-lover's paradise. Best known today for its vibrant nightlife and club scene, Ibiza attracts a large number of rich and famous visitors. Yet, despite all of its glitz and glamour, Ibiza still retains much of its laid-back, island charm and cultural heritage.

Ibiza town, harbor & fortress Throughout the island's off-the-beaten-track areas, you'll encounter friendly farmers and fisherman, fragrant pine tree groves, beautiful whitewashed villages, and fabulous coves and beaches. Ibiza is also steeped in history, having been invaded by many different civilizations, each leaving their cultural mark on the island. The winding cobblestone streets throughout Ibiza Town lead to a cathedral, fortress, whitewashed houses, and many typical Spanish restaurants and outdoor cafes. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the island on your own Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Mosque tower, Tunis Day 6: Tunis & La Goulette, Tunisia. Arrive today in Tunis, Tunisia, where whitewashed, blue-shuttered buildings house a treasure trove of Ottoman art. Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, actually consists of three cities: the modern Capital City of the Tunisian Republic, with its wide streets, skyscrapers and busy sidewalk cafes; the Arabic Medina (Old Town) from the Middle Ages, an exciting labyrinth laden with secrets, narrow alleyways, small shops, and huge mosques and palaces; and Carthage, the ancient Phoenician-Roman city that lies just outside the main city. Explore on your own or choose from several exciting optional shore excursions. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Castiglione di Sicilia, Catania, Sicily Day 7: Catania, Italy. Located at the base of the active volcano Mount Etna, Catania was founded by the Greeks and then taken over by the Romans. Explore independently or select from optional tours including: Taormina (the most popular Sicilian beach resort), a Jeep tour of Mount Etna, and a tour of historic Catania including Saint Agatha's Cathedral, the Roman Amphitheatre, and other exquisite examples Baroque architecture. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Naples bay, Italy

Day 8: Naples, Italy. This afternoon, arrive in Naples, capital city of the Campania region. Join an optional tour of historic Naples.

Golfer at seaside green Or, join other exciting optional excursions to the legendary sites of Pompeii and Vesuvius. Participating golfers will have a special opportunity to compete in an optional 9-hole tournament at the stunning Golf Club Naples. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence, Italy Day 9: Florence, Italy. Arrive this morning in Livorno. Transfer to Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance. Enjoy the balance of the day at leisure to explore what is often regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Some of Florence's most impressive sites include the Piazza del Duomo; the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore; the Baptistery; the Palazzo Vecchio; the Church of Santa Croce, burial place of Michelangelo and Galileo; and the Accademia of Fine Arts, home to Michelangelo's David. Other nearby attractions include the leaning tower of Pisa. Your hotel is ideally located, within short distance of many major attractions, as well as the best shopping and dining. Breakfast provided.

Day 10: Florence/USA. Your Mediterranean adventure ends as you transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA. Arrive in the USA later today. Or, continue your stay in Florence by adding a late return and extra nights to your package. Breakfast provided.


Golf Programs

Golfers Take advantage of a special opportunity to participate in Chuck Cook's golf school. Choose from three different optional instruction programs, each tailored to your skill level. Open to experienced and novice golfers alike, the programs include group lessons, personal instruction, a seminar led by Chuck, and opportunities to play onshore in Spain and Italy. All packages are available for purchase onboard the Sinfonia.

To enroll in Chuck Cook's golf school and to participate in the final competition at Naples, a handicap (hcp) is a must. Beginners can participate in a special competition on a putting green. All times shown are indicative and subject to change.

† Final competition at Naples is optional, and requires additional fee of $155/player. Players may be joined by a non-playing companion for $78.
