Day 1: Depart USA. Your fascinating journey to Israel begins this evening as you depart JFK International Airport in New York for your overnight flight to Tel Aviv via Zurich, Switzerland..

Day 3 - 6: Jerusalem. The next four days are yours to explore the world's most fascinating and coveted city, on your own or through our optional guided touring program. Your superior first class hotel is centrally located, within walking distance to many of the major Jerusalem attractions, including the Old City, Zion Square and downtown.
Begin your journey to Israel with a visit to another ancient and fascinating city: Cairo, Egypt. Enjoy three nights at the deluxe Cairo Sheraton Hotel & Towers including buffet breakfast daily, a full day of guided touring of the most significant sites in and around Cairo and a full day at leisure to explore further on your own or on optional tours.
Day 2: Cairo, Egypt. Late afternoon arrival in Cairo, where East and West come together in a wonderful and chaotic mix of old and new. You'll be met by our representative in Cairo, assisted with visa and customs formalities and then escorted to your deluxe hotel located on the banks of the Nile River. Continue to Giza, a short drive from bustling, downtown Cairo. Here you visit the Pyramids of Cheops and Chephren, which have stood for 46 centuries and are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World and possibly the most visited monuments of Egypt. The Sphinx, a feline character 50 meters long and 22 meters high, carved from a single stone, lies just before the Pyramids and until today remains shrouded in mystery as to its meaning and origin. Day 4: Cairo. A full day is yours to explore Cairo and its surroundings on your own or on optional tours arranged exclusively for Friendly Planet travelers. Your hotel is ideally located along the River Nile, commanding panoramic views of the Nile and City, in the heart of Cairo, adjacent to the world-famous Egyptian Museum and within walking distance of the main business and shopping center. Our Cairo representatives will be on hand to make suggestions if you prefer to explore independently. To make the most of your visit and enrich your experience, our representatives will offer you a chance to join some excursions to the city's highlights as well as exciting evening activities. Day 5: Cairo/Jerusalem. Today you'll be escorted to the airport as you bid farewell to Cairo and board your short flight to Israel. Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to your hotel in the heart of Jerusalem, within walking distance of the Old City. Breakfast provided.

Day 8: Eilat/Petra Optional Tour. Enjoy the day at leisure or take advantage of a wonderful day tour to Petra. Early this morning we'll cross into Jordan at the Arava border and drive to the Nabatean capital of Petra, a secret and mystical city carved more than 2,000 years ago in pink sandstone. After a tour of the ancient city, including a portion on horseback, we board our bus and return to Israel, arriving in Eilat for overnight.

Day 10: Israel/USA. Transfer independently to Ben Gurion Airport and board your return flight to the USA, arriving later this afternoon.
Eilat Extension Prices: $399 per person double occupancy. Add $199 per person for single occupancy rooms. For July 16 and August 13 departures only, prices are $499 for double occupancy and $299 for single occupancy supplement.
Petra Optional Day Tour: $159 per person. Taxes and border crossing fees are $35 in addition and must be paid in U.S. dollars at the border.

Full Day Tour to Masada & the Dead Sea. Drive south through the Judean Hills and desert, then along the shore of the Dead Sea to Masada. Ascend by cable car and tour the mountain fortress built by Herod, where the Zealots made their last stand against the Romans. Visit the remains of the walls, palaces, water cisterns and mosaic floors.
Full Day Tour to Nazareth, Tiberias & Capernaum. Depart after breakfast for Nazareth, the town where Jesus spent his boyhood. Visit the Church of the Annunciation and then continue to Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle of turning the water to wine. Drive to Tiberias, the ancient town on the Sea of Galilee. Drive to Capernaum where you'll visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue where it is thought that Jesus taught. Continue to Tagbha, site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, located at the foot of the Golan Heights. Continue to Yardenit, the site where the Jordan River leaves the Sea of Galilee and heads toward the Dead Sea, and a special spot for Baptism services. $65 per person.
