Tarangire National Park
Tanzania
On the eastern side of the Tarangire River opposite Tarangire Hill
stands the
Tarangire Sopa Lodge. The Lodge is located in the
Tarangire National Park and is one of Tanzania's most easily accessible
conservation areas. The lodge is about an hour's pleasant drive
through an area rich in wildlife.

The
Tarangire Sopa Lodge, built as a 'low profile' structure, nestles
into a wooded hillside valley overlooking Tarangire Hill. Tarangire Sopa
Lodge is the only luxury 'hotel-like' lodge in Tarangire. The Lodge
offers spacious rooms with good views over the bush; a pleasant lounge
and restaurant, and a unique swimming pool located at the edge of a
rocky gorge.
Typical Tarangire Room
The Lodge can accommodate 160 guests in 75 suites, each with
wall-to-wall carpeting, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample
room for a third, lounge area with mini-bar, private bathroom with
shaver sockets and hair dryer, and a private verandah which offers
stunning views over the baobab-studded landscape.
Tarangire Sopa's unique pool
All beds are fitted with mosquito nets and access to the balcony is
through sliding doors fitted with mosquito screens. Each suite has a
mini-fridge, complimentary bottled water, and glasses. Bathroom supplies
provided by the Tarangire Sopa Lodge include shampoo, soaps and shower
gel. Freshly laundered towels and washcloths are provided daily. Hot and
cold running water is available each 6 am to 8 am and 6 pm to 8 pm. Cold
water is available at all times. Electricity is available 24 hours.
Main Dining Room at Tarangire Sopa Lodge
The Restaurant, located in the main building, features high ceilings and
terraces which provide spectacular views of the bush and resident
wildlife while dining. This area is non-smoking. Meals served are a
cosmopolitan blend of European, African and Asian dishes, all made with
fresh produce.

The
Guest Shop stocks a wide selection of gift items, clothing, film,
sweets, postcards and toiletries. The Lodge's unique swimming pool has
its own bar and snack kitchen and offers a refreshing interlude between
game drives.
The park is host to a number of rarely seen species of wildlife
including eleand, oryx, kudu and gerenuk. Another specialty are tree
climbing pythons and thousands of resident elephants. Among the wildlife
to see here, the elephant population stands out as one of the highest in
Tanzania but also has the highest number of recorded bird species than
any other habitat, making it a birders paradise.
