Samburu Sopa Lodge is situated 325 kilometers from Nairobi, in the middle of the Samburu National Park, next to the new Oryx airstrip. The lodge is built atop a hillside, allowing panoramic views of the distant Samburu hills and Mt. Kenya. The public areas are airy and spacious with views of the surrounding area. The reception is decorated with local artifacts, and rich earth colors typical of the Samburu area.
Thirty cottages converge at the public facilities area which surrounds a waterhole accessed by an array of wildlife. The architecture is harmonious with the natural landscape and was constructed with local materials. The décor is inspired by the local Samburu people and the high ceilings ensure that the rooms are airy and comfortable. Each cottage has two tastefully appointed bedrooms, with two queen size beds, shower, and private veranda.
The dining room has a beautiful view and incorporates hand-carved furniture into the decor. Local stones and materials are tastefully displayed infusing nature into the lodge. The bar is located next to the lobby, boasting an uninterrupted view of the surrounding area.
