General Requirements

A current passport is required for all U.S. citizens traveling abroad. Many countries will not allow you to enter their borders if your passport expires less than six months after your date of return.

Many countries also require a visa for entry. Visa requirements vary by country. We will send complete details, including visa instructions and application forms for U.S. passport holders, in your confirmation packet.

If you're not a U.S. passport holder, you must carefully review the passport and visa requirements for each country on your itinerary, as visa requirements vary depending upon your country of citizenship.

It is the responsibility of each traveler to determine passport and visa requirements and comply with them and to secure the proper travel documents. To avoid disappointment and unnecessary expenses, please carefully review the requirements so that you can obtain all necessary documents well before your trip.

Some countries issue visas upon arrival. But in most cases, it is not possible to obtain a visa instantly.
Airlines and cruises may deny boarding and your tour may be disrupted if your visa is not in order.
If your tour or cruise visits multiple countries, carefully review the entire itinerary (including all ports of call on cruises) to determine what visas are required and if you may need a multiple-entry visa.
Pay special attention to international flight routing. Some countries require visas for transiting through their airports, even if you are just passing through en route to another country.

	Argentina Travelers to Argentina must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Argentina, but you will be required to pay $160 "reciprocity fee". This fee is payable online thru the following website: www.migraciones.gov.ar . If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Bosnia Herzegovina Travelers to Bosnia Herzegovina must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Bosnia Herzegovina. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Brazil Travelers to Brazil must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders must obtain a Brazil visa prior to departure. 	Bhutan Travelers to Bhutan must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. Friendly Planet will pre-arrange Bhutan visa for U.S. passport holders. 	Cambodia Travelers to Cambodia must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders will be granted a Cambodia visa upon arrival. You must bring two passport-type photos and $20 (exact change, U.S. dollars only) visa fee with you. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Colombia Travelers to Colombia must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Colombia. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Chile Travelers to Chile must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Chile. 	China Travelers to China must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders must obtain a China visa prior to departure. 	Costa Rica Travelers to Costa Rica must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Costa Rica. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Croatia Travelers to Croatia must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Croatia. 	Cuba U.S. passport holders must have a visa to enter Cuba in addition to a passport, valid for at least 6 months from date of travel. As authorized by the U.S. Government, Friendly Planet has made arrangements for our passengers to have the visa issued by the charter airline at the airport upon check-in for your flight. NOTE: Your mother's maiden name is necessary for the Cuban Visa. It is quite possible that citizens of other countries will be permitted to enter Cuba as a participant in one of our programs. 	Dubai Travelers to Dubai must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders may enter Dubai on a free visa that we obtain on your behalf upon arrival. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. Certain passport holders will require a visa prior to arrival which our representatives in Dubai will arrange on your behalf. The cost for this visa is $145 per person. 	Ecuador Travelers to Ecuador must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Ecuador. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. More information is available from the Embassy of Ecuador.
	El Salvador Travelers to El Salvador must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into El Salvador. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Egypt Travelers to Egypt must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders will be granted an Egypt visa upon arrival. Due to constantly changing regulations regarding visa assistance in the Cairo airport, for groups of less than 10, you will need to go through customs independently and pay the visa fee directly to Cairo airport officials. 	France Travelers to France must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into France. 	Germany Travelers to Germany must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Germany. 	Greece Travelers to Greece must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Greece. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. Those passengers requiring a visa for Greece will need to obtain a multiple entry Greek visa. 	Guatemala Travelers to Guatemala must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Guatemala. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Honduras Travelers to Honduras must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. 	India Travelers to India must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. 	Ireland Travelers to Ireland must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Ireland. 	Israel Travelers to Israel must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Israel. 	Japan Travelers to Japan must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Japan. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. More information is available from the Embassy of Japan.
	Jordan Travelers to Jordan must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders will be granted a Jordan visa upon crossing the border. If you hold a passport from another country, please check the requirements. 	Kenya Travelers to Kenya must have a passport and visas for entry. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date of travel and must contain at least 3 blank pages for visa and immigration stamps. Passengers continuing on to Tanzania, and connecting in Nairobi, Kenya for their final departure flight to the US do not require a transit or multiple entry visa. A single entry visa is valid for connecting flights. Passengers continuing on to Tanzania from Kenya must carry proof of yellow fever vaccination. U.S. passport holders can obtain a Kenya visa upon arrival, but they are not guaranteed, may be required to be paid for in USD (cash) and may experience delays. Please be advised, Friendly Planet will send you Visa Support Letter(s) and e-ticket(s), via email, to help you obtain your visa. 	Madagascar Travelers to Madagascar must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. U.S. passport holders need a visa for entry into Madagascar. For a stay up to 30 days, single entry, the visa is free and will be issued at the airport. A letter of recommendation from a travel agency showing the name or ticket office showing a round-trip ticket or an itinerary (with traveler's name) is required. 	Malaysia Travelers to Malaysia must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. In addition, your passport must have at least 2 blank visa pages. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for entry into Malaysia. 	Myanmar Travelers to Myanmar must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel, and at least 2 blank visa pages.
