Passengers departing Miami (MIA): Due to a schedule change on LAN Airlines for departures Feb 15, 2015 and onwards, passengers will depart Miami on an overnight flight arriving to Quito early in the morning of Day 2. Please refer to the flight schedule for details.

Passengers departing New York (JFK) or Los Angeles (LAX): Passengers must check-in the night before the listed departure dates for their overnight flights arriving on Day 1. Please refer to the flight schedule for details.

Convent of San Francisco, Quito Day 2: Quito. Today, enjoy a panoramic tour of Quito, arguably one of the loveliest South American cities. Visit the Government Palace and the Monastery of San Francisco, Quito's oldest church and largest colonial building constructed in Latin America. Later, stop at the Equatorial Monument, the Mitad del Mundo ("Middle of the World"), commemorating the exact place where Charles Marie de la Condamine established the Equator, where you can stand with one foot in the northern and one in the southern hemisphere. Breakfast provided.

Cotopaxi National Park Day 3: Quito, Cotopaxi, & Patate. After breakfast, set out along the Pan-American Highway to one of Ecuador's treasures, Cotopaxi National Park, home to several volcanoes, including Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world (19,500 feet above sea level). Spanning an impressive 84,000 acres, this natural reserve protects a diverse array of flora and fauna, including llamas, deer, wild horses, as well as many rare species endemic to the region. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled and your cameras ready for a lucky sighting of the mythical Andean condor.

Stop for lunch at the Tambopaxi hotel and enjoy a panoramic view of the national park while you eat. Later, continue to the beautiful valley of Patate (7,500 feet above sea level), known for its picturesque location on the Patate River and its diverse agricultural production. Check into your hotel for overnight. Accommodations: Hacienda Leito Los Llanganates. Breakfast & lunch provided.

El Pailón del Diablo Day 4: Patate & Amazon. The Amazonian segment of your tour begins after breakfast today as you set out along a scenic stretch of road overlooking lush green valleys and sparkling waterfalls. En route, you'll visit the spectacular Rio Verde falls, better known as El Pailón del Diablo (The Devil's Cauldron). Then, stop in the small village of Puyo for lunch at a local restaurant.

Arrive this afternoon at Punta Ahuano, a tiny port town on the north bank of the Napo River, where piraguas (canoes) await you for a short ride downstream to your lodge. After check-in, sip a refreshing welcome cocktail. Accommodations: Casa del Suizo. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Quechua girl Day 5: Amazon. Enjoy a full day exploring the wonders of the Napo River Amazon region. After a short walk through the jungle, your guide will present you with the itinerary for the day. Some of the activities available include a visit to a Quechua family, a demonstration of indigenous animal trapping techniques, nature hikes and river rafting or tubing along the Napo River. The activities for the day will be determined at the discretion of the tour guide to best fit your group’s abilities and interests. Time permitting, other independent activities may be available at additional cost. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Landscape around Banos Day 6: Amazon, Papallacta & Otavalo. After breakfast, set out on canoes again to return to Punta Ahuano. Continue by coach along the scenic Andes Mountain range to Otavalo (8,500 feet above sea level). En route, stop for lunch in Papallacta, a small resort town known for its thermal springs tucked high away in an Andean valley (11,000 feet above sea level). After lunch, you’ll have the option to bathe in the hot springs ($19 per person, includes hot springs entrance, towel, and locker). Later on, arrive in Otavalo and check into your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner with your travel companions. Accommodations: Puerto Lago. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided.

Otavalo marketplace Day 7: Otavalo Market & Depart Quito. Today you'll experience Otavalo, whose beauty lies in its people, the Otavaleño Indians, and their market, undoubtedly one of the best in all of Latin America. The market takes place in Otavalo’s main plaza, but don't hesitate to wander into the side streets, where the goods on display diversify and the prices are lower. Enjoy the cacophony of sounds as Andean pipe music mixes with Spanish and native Quechua voices, complemented by an explosion of color from the many fabric, fruit and other stalls. Time permitting, explore other nearby villages like Cotacachi, famous for its leatherwork, and Peguche, known for its traditional weavings. Later today, bid adiós to Ecuador as you transfer back to Quito, arriving at Mariscal Sucre International Airport at approximately 6:00pm for your overnight return flight. Breakfast provided.
