Our Touring Program
Day 1: Depart USA. Your fascinating journey begins this evening as you check-in for your flight bound for Malaysia. Flight departs late tonight.
Day 2: En route. Cross the International Date Line and lose one day en route.
Day 3: Arrive Kuching. Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, connect for a short flight to Kuching, the gateway to the legendary island of Borneo. You'll be escorted to your river-front deluxe hotel. Later today your Tour Director hosts a welcome dinner and orientation. Crowne Plaza Riverside Hotel (D)
Day 4: Kuching is nestled on the banks of the Sarawak River. This morning discover the charms of this captivating city established by Sir James Brooke, the first White Rajah of the province of Sarawak. See buildings dating back to the days of the White Rajahs, ancient Chinese temples and colorful markets displaying the produce that first brought traders to Borneo. You'll also visit the Sarawak Museum, displaying an excellent collection of Bornean archaeological and ethnological artifacts. (B)
Day 5: Your hotel is ideally located for independent exploration on your free day. Wander through the narrow bustling streets lined with shops and observe craftsmen at work. You may join an optional tour to Bako National Park, one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural surrounding. The various types of animals spotted at Bako include proboscis and silver leaf monkeys, long tail macaques, wild boars, lizards and numerous species of birds that make the tropical rainforest their home. Tonight, experience the gracious hospitality of the locals as you're invited for dinner in a private home. (B,D)
Day 6: Kuching/Batang Ai. Venture today into the heart of Borneo for Batang Ai reservoir. Journey through rural Sarawak, passing pepper gardens, cocoa and rubber plantations. En route, visit a colorful native market where a variety of jungle produce are on display. Visit a pepper garden and view wild orchids and several species of pitcher plants. Upon arrival at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by boat to your unique resort hotel, surrounded by mountains and unspoiled tropical rainforest. Hilton Longhouse Resort (B,L,D)
Day 7: Longhouse Excursion. A special treat awaits today as you sail by longboat down the river to an authentic longhouse. This is a unique way of living where the whole village is built under one roof. Visit the longhouse, experience the legendary Iban hospitality and learn about their fascinating culture and customs. Proceed to a nearby school catering to over a hundred children from different villages in the vicinity before returning to the resort. (B,L)
Day 8: Batang Ai/Kuching. Enjoy a leisurely drive back to Kuching. En route stop at a Lachau, a small Chinese village where you may observe barter trading by the natives and enjoy lunch. The balance of the day is a leisure. Hilton Hotel (B,L)
Day 9: Kuching/Kota Kinabalu/Sandakan. A short morning flight brings you to the tropical paradise of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah Province. Here, an orientation tour takes you to Signal Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the scenic islands off the South China Sea. Visit the Sabah Foundation building and the Phu Thou Se Chinese Temple. After lunch, fly to Sandakan, home to one of the only four remaining Orangutan sanctuaries in the world. Sabah Hotel (B,L)
Day 10: An unforgettable visit this morning to the world famous Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild. You'll be able to observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and watch a presentation on the Orangutans rehabilitation program. Return to Sandakan for lunch and embark on a sightseeing tour around Sandakan's various scenic sites including the Chinese Temple, the water villages and houses on stilts. Dinner tonight is at a famous local seafood restaurant. (B,L,D)
Day 11: Sandakan/Kota
Kinabalu. Board a short flight to Kota Kinabalu nestled
on the shores of the South China Sea fronting majestic Mount
Kinabalu. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely drive into the countryside,
passing by rice fields and megaliths. You will see the typical
village of the "Kadazan", Sabah's largest ethnic group. At the
Monsopiad Cultural Village, meet with the descendant of the
famous "Monsopiad", known as the greatest headhunter warrior
in early centuries and see his collection of skulls. Afternoon

Day 12: Today is
at leisure to enjoy the extensive facilities of your luxurious
hotel located near the heart of the city. Explore at your own
pace or perhaps opt for a cruise to the outlying islands. This
evening savor a sumptuous dinner, complete with a colorful cultural

Day 13: Kota Kinabalu/Kuala
Lumpur. A morning flight to Kuala Lumpur, the bustling
capital of Malaysia. On an afternoon tour get acquainted with
the city's surprising architectural splendors set amidst the
lush greenery. Visit the impressive Jamek Mosque, the National
Museum and the King's Palace. See Chinatown and stop at a local
craft market.

Day 14: Your final day is at leisure for last minute shopping and independent exploration. Your hotel is ideally located in the city-center. Tonight, celebrate with your fellow travelers at a farewell dinner with cultural entertainment. (B,D)
Day 15: Kuala Lumpur/USA. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA. Your exciting journey ends as you touch down in Los Angeles early this evening. (B)
